B20 South Africa: Momentum is building.
By Cas Coovadia, B20 South Africa Sherpa
The past few weeks have been energising and impactful – thank you to everyone who has engaged with B20 South Africa as we drive forward our mission of shaping actionable policy recommendations, which we will hand over to the G20.
Strong progress on our mandate
I am pleased to share that we are on track to deliver robust, business-led policy proposals to the G20. Our eight Task Forces – covering critical areas from trade and energy to digital transformation and sustainable agriculture – have held their first round of meetings, with meaningful discussions underway. The level of expertise and commitment from global business leaders is truly inspiring.
Stakeholder and media engagement: strong interest and support
We have engaged with both government representatives and the G20 South Africa working groups to ensure our plans are aligned. Additionally, we have conducted numerous information sessions with a diverse range of local and international stakeholders.
The team and I have engaged with multiple media platforms, sharing insights on why the B20 matters and how South Africa is contributing to shaping the global economic agenda. The interest and support from stakeholders, both locally and internationally, have been overwhelmingly positive. This reinforces the crucial role of the private sector in shaping global policy discussions.
What’s next?
Refining our plans
With momentum building, our focus is now on sharpening our operational and engagement plans for the summit – ensuring they uphold inclusive growth, sustainability, and global cooperation. We look forward to sharing these with you soon.
Strengthening Connections
In the weeks ahead, stakeholder engagement will deepen – most notably through the upcoming meetings between the B20 Steering Committee and our Local Business Advisory Council (LBAC) and the International Business Advisory Caucus (IBAC). These dialogues are vital, as they ground our work in diverse perspectives.
We remain committed to broad and inclusive participation in the B20 process through stakeholder engagement, dialogues, and events in the lead-up to the B20 Summit. We welcome opportunities to collaborate with partners who share our vision for meaningful, and solution-driven impact.
Gratitude for Shared Progress
A sincere thank you to our Task Force members, sponsors, stakeholders, and the media platforms who have hosted us to amplify both the visibility and substance of this effort. I also express my gratitude to the B20 Secretariat for the sterling work they continue to undertake. Time and again, we see that true progress is forged through collaboration.
Guided by Purpose
Through all of this, one principle remains our steady guide: Inclusive Growth and Prosperity through Global Cooperation. It is more than our theme – it is the measure of our collective impact.
