Event Overview

Day 1 of the G20 Labour and Employment Ministers’ Meeting (LEMM) 2025 marks the formal opening of a dialogue on inclusive labour policy under the South African G20 Presidency. Chaired by Hon. Ms Nomakhosazana Meth, South Africa’s Minister of Employment and Labour, the session begins with high-level addresses from government, business, and labour leaders, setting the tone for multilateral cooperation on pressing workforce challenges. 

The central focus of Plenary Session I is on youth employment, job creation, and equitable economic growth. Anchored by the launch of the Youth At Work Report (ILO & OECD) and the Nelson Mandela Bay G20 Youth Target, the session surfaces key strategies for improving youth labour market outcomes, from skills development and entrepreneurship to formal job access and digital inclusion.
