Plenary Session II: Gender Equality in the Workforce

Day 2 of the G20 Labour and Employment Ministers’ Meeting (LEMM) 2025 centres on advancing gender equality in the world of work. Under the South African G20 Presidency, this plenary session brings together international organisations, G20 governments, and business and labour partners to spotlight the critical gaps and solutions in women’s and youth participation in labour markets. 

Anchored by the presentation of the Women At Work Report (ILO & OECD) and a dedicated briefing on the Brisbane–eThekwini Goal, the session highlights persistent barriers to employment equity and wage parity across the G20. Interventions from member and guest countries further surface key challenges and opportunities to drive decent work, inclusive economic growth, and social justice.
